Patience, Faith, and God's Hand

Hello again! You can call me the slackin' blogger! Haha! Well, LDS General Conference was this last weekend! I was lucky enough to have attended the afternoon session on Saturday and, along with many other prayer-answering talks, I was fortunate to hear Elder Oaks talk on sharing the gospel. He talked about sharing the gospel on social media. I was sort of doing that on this blog, but, obviously, I have been a huge slacker. So as I was lying in bed reading my missionary emails from friends all over the world, I had this impression to post again about my thoughts and impressions, so here goes.

Why I Havn't Had A Relationship Yet... And Why That's Okay

Everyone I encounter that asks if I have ever had a boyfriend is always shocked to hear me say no. Most of the time, I think their unbelief is funny.  I'm not going to lie, though, there are times I wonder if I'm doing anything wrong that warrants me incapable of having a relationship, especially now that I am a fairly capable college student. However, I also can't deny that telling people I've never had a boyfriend, never had my first kiss, and only been on a few (granted, pretty awesome) dates, is oddly satisfying. I felt like in honor of Valentines day coming up, I'd share my reasons why.

How To Survive Your First Semester of Freshman Year in College

So I recently just survived probably one of the hardest parts of college for a new kid. The first semester of college, or as I like to call it, Crash Course in How To Be A Grownup. You move away from home and take more than twelve credit hours because you think that it can't be THAT different from high school. Right? Well, after my experience, I am going to tell you how to do better than I did my first semester of college.

Hope

I have come to think about the word hope. What does hope mean? While meditating on hope today, I came to find, and many can probably agree, that we view hope in a negative light. I 'hope' I get good grades. I 'hope' things work out. We use hope as something we can only sit back and wait for. What we need to realize is, hope is a beautiful word! The meditation says that hope is a dream we are acting upon and hoping it becomes a reality. Now hope is a verb. Hope is working. If we just hope passively, we may as well just call it dreaming.

Dreamer

I am one of those people that is proud to say is a dreamer. When I dream, I dream big. The problem with that, is that others tell us that our dreams might be too big or too far fetched to be achievable. At first we fall for that. However, some of us realize that the people stopping us from achieving our dreams are ourselves. In the end, it's not the people that told us we couldn't do it that stopped us, it was us allowing their words to be the verdict of our dream.
